Explore Falla’s childhood, piano training, Felipe Pedrell, La vida breve, Paris, Debussy and Ravel, Noches en los jardines de España, the Siete canciones populares españolas and the beginnings of El amor brujo as Spanish colour becomes disciplined musical identity.

Section II — Fire, Gardens, Ballet & Granada
Follow Falla through the revisions of El amor brujo, the atmospheric world of Noches, The Three-Cornered Hat, Diaghilev, Massine and Picasso, before Granada, Lorca, cante jondo and El retablo de Maese Pedro lead his music towards greater concentration and austerity.

Section III — Chamber Music, Harpsichord & Increasing Severity
Enter Falla’s mature world through private patronage, Wanda Landowska, the Harpsichord Concerto, Cervantes, faith, Granada and the beginnings of Atlántida as colour gives way to sharper lines, smaller ensembles and an increasingly rigorous musical language.

Section IV — Argentina, Exile & the Unfinished Vision
Reflect on Falla’s departure from Spain, life in Argentina, illness, correspondence, the continuing burden of Atlántida, memories of Cádiz and his death in Alta Gracia before his body was returned to Spain.
